How Vantage is built.
Transparency about how this app is made is a feature, not an embarrassment. This page explains the process without exposing implementation detail that isn't useful to a learner.

Purpose
Vantage is designed to help learners understand and apply AI governance concepts relevant to AIGP preparation — not to memorize trivia, but to build the kind of judgment the certification's own scenario-based questions actually test.
Curriculum alignment
Vantage uses the publicly available AIGP Body of Knowledge and exam blueprint as reference points for curriculum alignment — organizing what it teaches around the same domains and competencies IAPP publishes. This is alignment for study purposes, not participation in or endorsement by IAPP. See Legal & Disclaimers for the full independence statement.
Source hierarchy
Where a concept can be grounded in a specific authoritative document, Vantage prioritizes, in order:
- legislation and regulations (e.g. the EU AI Act, GDPR);
- regulators and government bodies;
- official standards and framework organizations (e.g. NIST, ISO, OECD);
- the official AIGP certification blueprint and Body of Knowledge; and
- reputable secondary interpretation, where no primary source directly applies.
Concept pages that rest on one specific named document link the verified official source directly — see the "Sources and accuracy" section of Legal & Disclaimers for the one disclosed exception (ISO/IEC 42001, which is paywalled).
How content is created
Each concept in Vantage goes through the same process:
source identification → concept interpretation → educational explanation → practice design → quality checks → updates as sources change.
Explanations are written in layered registers (a plain-language framing, then a professional and technical depth pass), with confusable-concept comparisons, worked examples, and exam-oriented notes added where they help retention. This is the actual production pipeline, not an idealized description of one.
Where AI is used
Every explanation, example, comparison table, glossary entry, and practice question in Vantage was generated by an AI model synthesizing the public Body of Knowledge, per the process above. Two features also use AI live, while you study: grading of free-text explain-back answers, and the short coaching note on your Today page. Full technical detail on what's sent to the AI provider is in the Privacy Notice.
None of Vantage's content has been reviewed by a certified AI governance professional, an attorney, or IAPP — this is stated plainly rather than implied, because claiming a review that didn't happen would be worse than disclosing that it didn't.
Practice-question methodology
Vantage's practice questions are designed to test:
- conceptual understanding;
- application to a scenario, not just recall;
- the ability to distinguish between related, easily-confused concepts; and
- governance judgment — what a professional should actually do.
Questions are independently generated and designed for Vantage. They are not obtained from, and do not reproduce, the live AIGP exam. See Legal & Disclaimers for the full practice-question disclaimer.
Exam-frequency claims
Vantage does not manufacture likelihood or frequency scores for exam topics. Where the official exam blueprint publishes real ranges (such as a domain's share of total questions), Vantage may present that information accurately — it never converts published ranges into invented claims about how likely a specific concept is to appear on your exam.
Updates
AI governance content evolves as laws, standards, and guidance change. Vantage aims to update its material as authoritative sources change, but does not promise real-time accuracy — there is currently no automated process that re-checks content the moment a source updates.
Reporting a correction
If you spot something you believe is inaccurate, the fastest way to flag it is the feedback flag next to the section itself while signed in — that goes straight to the people maintaining the content. You can also email support@iaaa.academy.
